Hello all! Thank you for stumbling across our blog and taking the time to read our “About Us” page. First off, we’re Emily and Jessica—or Em and Jay—and yes, we are identical twins. Jay is the eldest, but only by seven minutes. We are currently both in college at Appalachian State University. We didn’t plan on going to the same college…it just sort of worked out that way. And this is our blog! It’s our newest hobby.
This blog is our way of letting everyone know how we are surviving (or trying to survive) life on “our own.” Right now we’re living on campus in a dorm room—this is our survival guide. We’ll be posting recipes, tips and tricks, hints on how to do this and that, do it yourself projects, easy decorating ideas, money saving tricks, our favorite cannot-live-without products, and so much more! If you’re a current college student (with a creative side) or getting ready to enter college, we hope you’ll find our experiences and posts helpful. We would also love to hear from you!

What we have to work with:
When cooking or crafting, anything we buy has to be purchased using a college student’s typical budget. We are going to try to keep everything simple so that our followers won’t have a difficult time replicating our activities. We’ll usually only be shopping at Wal-Mart, Food Lion, The Dollar Tree, and our on-campus market.

We both love to cook! So you’ll be seeing a lot of easy recipes being posted. But…since we live in a dorm room…we don’t have the best cooking provisions. The recipes we try will be simple, to say the least. We only have a microwave, sink, minifridge, and a really old stove at our disposal. So no worries, anyone should be able to do what we do using our dorm room facilities. Occasionally, we might throw in something using our home or a friend’s kitchen, but it shouldn’t be anything you can’t handle.
Where do we get some of our ideas/inspiration?
We get our ideas from random places. Sometimes they’re original, sometimes they aren’t. In our posts, we’ll always give credit where credit is due. If you’re still wondering about the answer to this question, we sometimes get inspiration from: browsing the web, cook books, DIY shows, friends/family, and our own imagination.
What we suggest:
Everyone must start with something. For most of our projects, we'll be using some of the same tools. These are things it's good to have around (in the dorm room, in an apartment, and even in a home). So, if you have a little extra cash, try investing in these or similar products.
